Students from the Sustainability Clubs at Penticton secondary schools have given ongoing, much-appreciated time, energy, and support to the South Okanagan Seniors for Climate and First Things First Okanagan.
One of the youths, Andrei Gonzales, is now a student in practical nursing at Okanagan College Penticton Campus where he is working to establish and popularize his Green Club.
On October 6 he had a table in the cafeteria to build support for the club, and he used climate flags of hope, created by local people of all ages, to give context.
He recently has created a number of these flags himself. His are bold and eye-catching, and draw attention to his work, and ours.

He says, "At the OC Green Club, we hope to start a discussion regarding the concerns of our rapidly changing climate and support sustainable initiatives that could help reduce our overall consumption of materials leading to reduced greenhouse emissions.
Other than organizing initiatives, we want to provide our club members a safe space to share their experiences of our environment today and devise a proper strategy in order to spread awareness of our stories!
With our environmental problems today, it’s time to do our part for our community!
